Congratulations to 2024 Scholarship Recipient:
Every year the Fort Myers Track Club awards one or more deserving high school seniors a scholarship. It was named the FMTC Billy Shevach Scholarship in memory of Billy and the generosity of the Shevach family. Each recipient is a member of the Fort Myers Track Club and met the scholarship requirements for volunteerism and participation with the track club.
Brandon Bill
Brandon’s has been involved with the Fort Myers Track Club elementary school. He volunteered at packet pickups and handed out shirts before the events while also competing in races with his mom. When Brandon officially got into running in 5th grade and started training, it was originally with the Fort Myers Track Club Youth Running Group, a program for young aspiring athletes. In middle school, He eventually joined Coach Tyler with ERYRC, Elite Running Youth Running Club. That is where he started training and eventually won 1st place finisher for Lee County Middle School Cross Country, 11th in the state for middle school cross country, and a nationals qualifier in the mile.
Brandon participated in 4 years of varsity cross country at Fort Myers High School in addition to running track. Brandon avidly trained for 4 years to better himself and run faster times. While doing so, he remained dedicated to academics with an unweighted GPA of 3.73 and a weighted GPA of 5.15. As a sophomore, he decided on dual enrollment and when Brandon started his junior year, he was a full-time student at FSW. He graduated with a high school diploma as well as an associate’s degree and 60 credit hours toward college completion.
In his junior year, Brandon joined the Fort Myers Track Club as a Junior Board Member. He volunteered at FMTC events and attended board meetings and completed 75 service hours with the FMTC. Brandon plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University and continues to train throughout the summer to qualify as a walk-on athlete.
In addition to his involvement with the Fort Myers Track Club, Brandon volunteered with the Gulf Coast Humane Society by playing with and walking the dogs. Brandon is also involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where he volunteered countless hours towards different organizations, with his Eagle Scout project totaling 275 hours of service. Brandon is a part of the National Honor Society within Fort Myers High School and works a part-time job at Norman Love Confections as a sales associate.
